     Often  we  have  difficulty in sorting out  what  are
reliable  versus non-reliable Sources-of-Authority  and/or
Authorities:

     1.  A person  who  is  an   expert  in  one  area  of
expertise;  but speaking outside their  realm of expertise
---  as when  a  Doctor of Physics speaks regarding proper
medical  procedures  or proper  understandings  of:   God,
Heaven  or  Hell and near-death-experiences  ---   and  is
trusted just because she is a Doctor!

     2.  Persons  who hold elective-office with power-and-
authority  in  political-matters --- giving authoritative-
views  regarding Proper-Scientific-Conclusions ---   while
demonstrating  ignorance  of  and/or  indifference  toward
proper   Scientific-Research-Procedures  and  Patterns-of-
Reasoning or Mathematical-Logic.

     3.  Persons choosing which Scriptural-Texts to  focus
their attention upon,  and which to ignore ---  based upon
their pre-existing: biases, prejudices, desires, hopes and
expectations.

     4.  Persons    choosing   which    Religious-Beliefs,
Doctrines and rituals to take seriously,  and which to  be
indifferent to ---  based upon the views of the  Dominant-
People with whom they are Most-Familiar and Dependent-Upon
---   in  the  absence  any  Reliable-Current-Existential-
Evidence or Careful-Thinking.

     5.  Persons  choosing   Whom-to-Trust  and   Whom-to-
Suspect ---   because of their environment  of  Collusive-
Games-of-Mutual-Self-Deception.

     The  processes  of  transcending the above  kinds  of
confusion about:  authority,  authorities and competencies
are NOT:  simple,  easy,  obvious, or risk-free;  not even
among honored: scholars,  scientists, or religious-leaders
legitimately holding  high offices and acting legitimately
under  the  terms  of  their  high  offices'   powers  and
authority.
