Yet domineering people often "dominate-the-law" and "make-the-law" something which does not merit-reverence. When "The-Law" does not merit-reverence, what is left to restrain (a) domineering-people who do not merit- reverence and/or (b) "The Domination-System" which does not merit-reverence? The virtues which do-merit-reverence are not defined by formal law; i.e., by The-Law of Domineering-People. We may speak-truth-to-fallen-powers by pointing to The-True- Virtues which transcend The-Fallen-Powers-That-Be. We may do this by describing in our own words our own experiences of The-True-Virtues; and their Corresponding-Vices with their Bitter-Fruits; i.e., their alienative-consequences. Our honest descriptions need to be clearly distinguished from willful-prescrptions and willful- proscriptions. Honest descriptions point to what transcends us and so to what we cannot control. Willful- proscriptions and willful-prescriptions are expressions of our wills which are inherently ours; and at our pleasure are under our control. Our-prescriptions and our- proscriptions clearly do not transcend us. What about God's-Prescriptions and God's Proscriptions? Who is presumptious enought to be sure that they know what God's-Prescriptions and God's- Proscriptions are? Let them declare who they are and let others honestly describe what they observe in such declarations! True-Authority does not reside in that who declare that they Know-With-Certainty what God's-Prescrptions and God's-Proscriptions are. True-Authority resides instead in the honest-descriptions of humble-people's own- experiences. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in "Search for Honesty and Integrity" (On Being Yourself Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
