It is safer to define "evil" inclusively in terms of all-kinds-of-alienation: from-spouse, from-children, from- extended-family, from-tribe, from-neighbors, from-city- citizens, from-state-citizens, from-foreigners, from- enemies. It is appropriate to define "evil" in terms of Dysfunctional-Relationships characterized by: 1. Alienation between/among insider-participants. 2. Alienation between "insiders" and "outsiders". 3. Alienation from the wider context/environment. 4. Alienation from creative-activities. 5. Alienation from growing/learning activities. 6. Alienation from humane-scholarship & writings. 7. Alienation from humane-scientific-research. 8. Alienation from humane-scientific-explorations. 9. Alienation between/among religious-leaders. 10. Alienation between/among domineering-leaders. It is hard to make a helpful/integrative case for attributing "evil" to any of the following: 1. Individuals as isolated "persons". 2. Paired-Individuals as an isolated "pair". 3. An isolated-small-group just for being isolated. 4. Non-conformists as punishment for non-conformity. 5. Non-conformist thoughts for being embarrassing. 6. Speaking honest-truths to domineering-powers. 7. Exposing dishonest/misleading statements as such. 8. Participants in another religion/culture as such. 9. An isolate event, place, text, thing or creation. 10. Any accurate/honest statement or description. Domineering-People are prone to label anything evil if it: 1. Cannot be controlled by domineering-people. 2. Cannot be concealed/discredited by-their-people. 3. Cannot be overwhelmed by their-collusive-games. 4. Cannot be excommunicated by smart-people. 5. Cannot be subverted or mislead by powerful people (c) 2004 by Paul A. Smith in "Search for Honesty and Integrity" (On Being Yourself Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
