"Visual-image" people can do well with maps of villages, cities, states, nations; and with remembering people's faces and overall- appearance --- but they cannot necessarily do well in abstract reasoning about relationships-described propositionally, or with the essence of mathmatical reasoning. It also appears that some people are prone to deal with human relationships in terms of ideal-forms, prescriptive and proscriptive commandments, patterns of conformity and/or loyalty and mutually-exclusive- realities --- but they do not focus much upon abstractly- conceived virtues and/or vices, personal-incarnations, communal-incarnations, authentic-role-models, evil- relationships, communal-integrity, personal-integrity, shalom, communal-health, etc. Different kinds of people work with different kinds of "maps" to represent in their understanding and memory of the elements and inter-relationships among elements of what they perceive to be important. The kinds of "maps" used --- both facilitate and guide the kinds of understandings and memory --- but not without any kind of "bias". Different kinds of people embody different: world- views, cosmologies, myths, parables, teachings, life- styles, assumptions, attitudes, etc. --- and often are challenged by the difficulties which they encounter when they try to communicate meaningfully with people who are different from them in such significant ways --- while being unaware of the differences in what they bring to their meetings, communications, understandings, and ways of interpretations thereof. Our diverse "stages-of-learning" within diverse aspects of living and relating --- play important roles in our difficult relationships. All of the above is relevant to efforts to facilitate and promote: conflict-resolution, peace-making, healing, reconciliation, cooperation, team-work, civility, hospitality, creativity, sanctuary-constructions, and sanctuary-maintainiance. In the above we may focus upon realities within various clusters: 1. Conflicts, complementations, interpretations, connections, relationships, exclusions, inclusions. 2. Virtues, vices, ideals, rituals, values. 3. Powers, agencies, persons, communities, institutions, incarnations, spirits, angels, principalities, governments, businesses, corporations, leaders, dictators, kings, queens, etc. The clusters are not separted by sharp boundaries, and efforts to define sharp poundaires are not likely to be helpful. There are many ways to think about and talk about how we appropriate, internalize and remember what we hear/see each other say and do: 1. We may wear colored-glasses or other "filters" which "color" what we see, perceive and remember. 2. We may look through lenses which magnify or distort parts of what we see, and demagnify or distort other parts of what we see. 3. We may have tunnel-vision or only periferal- vision. 4. We may be the victims of fog, snow-storms, and/or background noises which make it hard to distinguish between them and the realities we might otherwise be able to discern clearly. 5. We may be distracted by temptations, distractions, conflicts, and/or threats which keep us from clearly seeing what is going to be most important in the long-term. 6. Past failures, tragedies and catastrophies may color our perceptions in ways that we do not know. 7. Being surrounded by domineering people who are participants in collusive games of mutual self deception as: addicts, codependend-supporters, respected-religious- leaders, successful-capitalist-corporate-managers, and political supporters of the Military-Industrial-Complex --- teaching the Myth-of-Redemptive-Violence to poor people in under-developed countries who were feed the sweet milk of colonialism in their youth. Peacemakers cannot help others resolve conflicts without in some way considering the realities pointed to above --- and adjusting their assumptions, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors accordingly.
