     Domineering    people   are   often   intolerant   of
"differences";     but   are  careless  about  what  their
intolerance costs them  and  the  victims of their efforts
to    eliminate  the  "differences"    which   they    are
unwilling    to  tolerate.   It  often  makes  a    costly
difference  to  be indifferent to the  unknown  costs   of
efforts  to  eliminate   "intolerable-differences".    How
often   do   people  talk about the   long-term-costs   of
sending  a  criminal  "to-jail-for-life".     The   "good-
feelings"  of "justice-done"  are rarely compared with the
actual "benefits"  and the actual "costs" ---  compared to
other alternative ways of dealing with occasions of crime.
Domineering  people  rarely articulate just what  are  the
alternative  ways  of dealing with  occasions  of   crime.
That   failure   to   articulate alternatives --- costs  a
