Be stably bonded within healthy relationships? 2. Grow & deal-honestly with environmental changes? 3. Resolve ideological/personal conflicts/changes? 4. Deal with mental/physiological diseases/illness? 5. Agree gracefully upon guidelines for living well? 6. Cooperate with different people in civil-ways? 7. Relieve contentious conflicts & violence? 8. Transcend/mitigate motivations toward domination? 9. Promote/facilitate personal/communal integrities? 10. Promote/facilitate personal/communal dialogues? Different healthy communities may be based upon different SETS-OF-PREREQUISITES and may develop different patterns of integrities (communal and personal). Mandatory conformity is NOT a long term helpful prerequisite! There are many different kinds of healthy people and communities within many different kinds of natural environments. Such different kinds of healthy people and communities interact with each other and must ultimately deal with each other's different kinds of prerequisites and integrities. Human conflicts and violence are often rooted in beliefs that one set of guidelines is absolute/universal; to the exclusion of other complementary sets of guidelines which are expressed and worked with in different ways based upon contrasting but complementary: 1. Words and concepts. 2. Rituals and traditions. 3. Doctrines and confessional statements. 4. Stories, fables, myths, cosmologies and parables. 5. Languages, music, poetry, rules, regulations. 6. Ideal-forms, formulas, formalities. 7. Prescriptions, proscriptions and scriptures. 8. Ways of describing the world and cosmos. 9. Ways of grounding and expressing authority. 10. Ways of defining and talking about good & evil. By virtue of the fact that different people are working within contrasting "frameworks" they often fail to understand what each other is saying through their words and deeds. People who are saying the same things and affirming complementary guidelines --- are often in conflict with each other because they do not take the time to work and try to understand each other. Wars result from such mis-understandings! (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
