It is not easy to sort out the invariable natural pattern of consequences --- from the pattern of consequences of alienative human choices --- choices made in response to human actions and relationships. We need to be clear about the difference between HELPFULLY-DESCRIBING the OBJECTIVE-CONSEQUENCES of OBJECTIVE: actions, relationships and realities --- in contrast to the REFLEXIVE-CONSEQUENCES of REFLEXIVE: actions, relationships and realities --- each within their respective realms of possible integrity. Consider possible-objective versus possible-reflexive consequences --- of objective versus reflexive: actions, relationships and realities --- within the realm of humane intimate and sexual relationships which are: open, honest, gentle, kind, balanced, mutual, prudent, informed, thoughtful AND integrative. What communal consensus, rules, regulations, boundaries, taboos, etc. should pertain to healthy adult consensual intimacies and sexual experimentation; and to the accurate reporting of the experimental results on the part of humane individuals, couples, triangles, quartets, etc? Who is to decide? Upon what basis/authority? Experimental and/or scriptural? Institutional and/or individual? On the basis of which experimenters, experiments, scriptures and/or authentic individuals or authoritative individuals? Based upon what theories of: evil and ways of pointing to: truths, causes, effects, and their inter-connections? Upon what theory of power: creations, concentrations, corruptions and distributions? How can we most helpfully and humanely explore and reliably describe the limits of what is humanely possible --- within the realms of intimate/sexual relationships among: open, honest and humane adults? How are the causes and effects of evil-relationships to be discerned, described and transcended? How are the effects of natural human variations and differences to be recognized, identified, named, described and graciously dealt with? When we are not living within sanctuary communities wherein we are truly free to be safely vulnerable in open and honest dialogue about the results/consequences (inevitable and chosen) of our intimate experimentations --- we lose the advantages of learning from both the "good" and the "bad" experiences which we have in our lives. This fact of life should help us consider in a new light many of the questions raised above in this essay. It may be helpful to re-read and re-consider all of this essay in the light of all that has been said above! (c) 2005 by Paul A.
