The kinds of factors that play important roles include the following: 1. Who expected, prescribed, initiated and/or insisted that alienation occur? 2. Who was/is the-expected, the-intended, and/or the-experienced "focus" of the: alienation, separation, estrangement, etc? Was, or is, there a clearly identified individual person or minority group as the focus. Or, is there no clear focus; e.g., is there confusion? 3. Was/is the alienation regarded as: inevitable, pre-ordained, unavoidable, ordained-by-God, natural, proper, respectable, healthy, right, necessary, needed, helpful, un-fixable, etc? Why? 4. Was/is the alienation viewed as "punishment" --- created by some human or divine form of legislation, policy or law --- which might be changed by human or divine gracious choice? Under what conditions could/might such a change occur? 5. Was/is the alienation the natural result/outcome of the integrity-of-creation which is DESCRIBED by POINTING to the ultimately most pervasive and reliable patterns in the cause-and-effect relationships between and/or among: people, other-animals, plants, in-animate- objects, spirits, angels, principalities, powers, communities, couples, etc? 6. Who/what is well-served by alienation? 7. Who pays for the costs of alienation? Why? 8. Should alienation ultimately and overall come to an end? If so, when, and under what conditions? 9. Why does alienation continue as it does? 10. Who is, or should be, in charge of dealing with alienation? Why? 11. Who best (most helpfully) gives people permission and/or encouragement to be willing to be vulnerable and to engage together in the risky works of: reconciliation, healing and cooperation? Only women? Mostly women? Some women? Some men? Mostly men? Only men? God? Who has the needed talents, authority, power, will, means, etc. to do so? Why? 12. What is the role of "The Domination System" in all of the above? Why? 13. What are the motives, motivations, guidelines, ideals, values and principles of those who facilitate and promote reconciliaton? Of those who oppose and undermine reconciliation? What can/should we do about their efforts? Why? (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
