The ultimate motivation and purpose is to achieve/maintain dominance. The ultimate motivations and purposes of "The Domination System" are not supportive of liberation, reconciliation, healing, health, personal integrity, or communal integrity. Yet it is not always easy to tell the difference between integrative guidelines and the "guidelines" of "The Domination System". It would not serve the purposes of "The Domination System" to let those differences be evident, clear, or unambiguous. Thus "The Domination System" supports "good" laws, rules, commandments, prescriptions, proscriptions, and formulas --- in ways and according to spirits which help to maintain "The Domination System." The differences between supporters of "The Domination System" and people who support and facilitate both personal and communal integrity --- are differences which are related to the Spirit in which they serve and what motivates them. Supporters of "The Domination System" make use of many techniques and technologies of domination. Lovers and integrators work as servants to liberate and empower people who are weak, sick, alienated, estranged, and without hope --- so that they may become integrated into healthy relationships and empowered to take good care of themselves and their legitimate interests. "The Domination System" promotes the concentration of power in the hands of a few dominant people at the top of their caste system of hierarchies. The greater is the concentration of the power to dominate without balancing considerations --- the greater is the corruption of that power. Lovers and integrators serve as servants to distribute power and the fruits of people's labors in ways which promote both personal and communal integrities. Supporters of "The Domination System" serve contentiously to accentuate differences between people who fear each other. They put fear to "good" uses. Fear is a "good" handle which can be used in manipulating people who are: fearful, vulnerable, poor, weak, sick, confused, and ignorant. Lovers and integrators serve to promote and facilitate reconciliation, balance, mutual understanding and cooperation. With Love they serve to cast out fears which are rooted in ignorance, prejudice, confusion, alienation; and battles over who should be dominant, and who should be submissive. By their fruits we may recognize and know them. We need to consider the effects of each of the following: 1. The spirit which pervaded the formulation of laws, rules, commandments, prescriptions, proscriptions, etc. 2. The overt and covert intentions, purposes, motivations, assumptions and reasoning which motivated and guided the above formulations. 3. The kinds of people chosen to administer the above formulations and the spirit in which they administer the above formulations. 4. The degree of consensus among the members of the communities within which the above formulations are administered; and the level of opposition and the spirit and sophistication among those who seek to understand, transcend, subvert, and evade the powers of "The Domination System" --- without getting seduced by "The Domination System" to become unwitting supporters of "The Domination System. It is helpful to keep in mind the kinds of "things" which lovers do which supporters of "The Domination System" rarely do; and in contrast the kinds of "things" which supporters of "The Domination System" do which lovers rarely do. Similarly for the spirit in which contrasting people approach each other and those who are more vulnerable than they themselves are. (See the next essay.) (c) 2005 by Paul A.
