It is all too tempting to adopt definitions which lead to the exclusion of creative new ideas, ideals, values, persons and visions --- for they may readily appear to be threats to the "integrity" of collusive games of mutual self deception, games which seem to be essential to the well-being of the community. The creation and implementation of definitions is made simpler if the definitions focus upon just one or a very few criteria. The fewer are the criteria, the simpler it is to create and implement definitions which will help members of the community to reliably identify any idea, ideal, value, principle or person "is" a threat to the well-being of the community. Simplicity also makes it easier for controllers and other persons who are preoccupied with issues of control to deal with complex issues --- by dealing only with one or a very few dimensions of the full reality. The multi-dimensional reality can be projected upon a one- dimensional line or a two-dimensional surface; and only that span of the space be considered. When the complex reality is projected upon just a one-dimensional line it is easy to see which persons are on "our end" of the line, and which persons are on the "other end" of the line. Friends and enemies are easily identified in a one-dimensional world! The trick is to reduce a complex reality to just a one-dimensional world; and to get "everybody" to see it that way with us.
