     When  people regard human experiences as  unimportant                                 
in comparison to "transcendent" laws, rules, prohibitions,                                                                     
prescriptions,  commandments, scriptures, and confessional                                                                     
statements ---  people are sure to become  alienated  from                                        
each  other.   The essence of sin and evil is  alienation.                  
Denigrating  the importance of  people's experiences leads                                   
to alienation, evil and sin.                                       
                                                                                                                               
     If people think that each other's experiences are not                                   
important,   they   are  likely to lose  touch   with  the                                                                     
reality of human experiences,  and likely to  lose   touch                                   
with each other;  to become alienated from each other, and                                        
to   become  preoccupied   with    issues    of    control                                                           
relative   to "transcendent" considerations.                                                              
                                                                                                                               
     It  is  particularly  dangerous to respect and  honor                           
people   who  are preoccupied with issues of  control  ---                                                           
when   they     denigrate    people's    experiences    of                                   
alienation,  estrangement,     resentment  and  anger  ---                                        
especially  when     those  experiences  flow   from   the                                   
leadership   of  people   who    are   preoccupied    with                                                                    
issues  of  control.  Power corrupts,   and absolute power                                             
corrupts   absolutely!   When   powerful   people  repress                                             
people's awareness  of  the consequences of  the behaviors                                                       
of    the   powerful  people   ---     there   is    total                                             
corruption!  If we are to enjoy both personal and communal                                                                
integrity  we must pay proper respect and   honor  to  our
