Attempts to jump over, or skip, prudent incremental stages --- which another or others are not ready for or desirous of --- will usually halt or delay additional incremental stages of prudent risk taking. Trust is usually developed gradually and incrementally. Any coercion, violence or attempt to dominate will undermine further trust, respect and risk taking --- for it is prudent to take such signs seriously; as warning signals that more of the same may follow. People who are impatient and seek to skip over preliminary stages of building healthy friendships and levels of intimacy --- are unlikely to enjoy the full fruits of healthy relationships, personal integrity and communal integrity. They are likely to engender defensiveness and disease --- rather than security and health. People who understand each other's needs for prudent passages through stages of intimacy, and who respect each other's needs for assessing the development of a new and renewing relationships --- are more likely to be able to progress through appropriate stages; than are people who lack such understanding and mutual respect. The deeper some friendships and intimacy are, the greater the risks and dangers of imprudence --- as well as the greater are the joys and pleasures found therein. Haste can lay waste what has been carefully nurtured in the past. Demands, coercive expectations, and controls can quickly lead to personal and communal disintegration ---when people are not patient in working through the stages of increasing friendships and intimacy.
