When we are greatly concerned with appearances of purity, respectability, and self-righteousness --- we cannot be helpfully involved in facilitating both communal and personal integrity. Such helpful involvement entails dealing openly and honestly with collusive games of mutual self-deception --- which undermine the possibilities of both personal and communal integrity. Gracious openness and honesty often engenders coercive and violent responses on the part of the participants in tragically dishonest games of mutual self-deception ---and often lead to being blamed for creating the previously hidden conflicts which have been exposed to the light of God's Love through honest descriptions. Saints have been crucified because of such gracious openness and honesty. It is not simple, easy or cost-free to speak truth to power --- in gracious efforts to liberate those who are trapped in the prisons of collusive games of mutual self- deception. Such people are thirsting for and fearing: liberation, salvation, and integrative intimate relationships which are characterized by both vulnerability and security --- which in fear appear to be contradictory realities; but which in Love are often known together, united and enjoyed as complementary realities within integrative communities.
