It is difficult to be honest about anything which does or seems to us to threaten our integrity, our pretense of integrity. The threat may exist only in our thought processes when we are full of fear, or may entail collusive games of mutual self deception among a few or many people. We can be honest about objects and objective relationships of things far from us; from which we have detached ourselves in reality and in concern. The more out of touch we are with some thing, the more easy it is to be honest about it; even if not well informed about it. If we are not closely related to some thing by virtue of detachment, we may convince ourselves that what happens to it or what it does, is a matter of indifference to us. The ignorance of detachment often facilitates bliss! (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
