Such religious leaders have out of fear insisted on conformity---on their terms. They have been motivated by fears which have been grounded in ignorance, misunderstanding and confusion---and have opposed education, conflict-resolution and clarification which could reduce such fears and the violence which flow from such fears. Leaders of Judeo-Christian religious groups have often been intolerant of people who differed in regards to: DOCTRINES RITUALS GOVERNANCE SCRIPTURES LIFE-STYLES SEXUAL-PREFERENCE EDUCATION SCIENCE LITERATURE NATIONALITY ETHNIC-ORIGIN ECONOMICS Such intolerance has not been limited to people who are outside the Judeo-Christian religious: Jews, Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Muslims, Bahai, the wide spectrum of Protestant Denominations and splinters off of those denominations, and yet others. The intolerance is often the most vicious when visited upon members of differing Judeo-Christian religions! People with much in common as regards to heritage---are intolerant of each other, as well as intolerant of members of religious groups which have no historical common roots. The logic of this intolerance would be hard to explain to intelligent creatures from outside Planet Earth---probably because the intolerance is not logical or even reasonable. Intolerance is usually rooted in fear, anxiety, ignorance, misunderstanding, mis-information and spiritual blindness. Institutionalized intolerance promotes ignorance, misunderstanding, mis-information and spiritual blindness---often within Judeo-Christian religious assemblies. The transcendence of the collusive games of mutual self deception of such assemblies would be a worthy focus for prayer life within such assemblies---but it rarely is. Intolerance is usually valued by people who are preoccupied with addictions and addictive values system. People who want to transcend the violence which is usually associated with intolerance need to seek honesty and integrity in order to transcend intolerance. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
