Live in keeping with our ideals, values and goals. 2. Change our ideals, values and goals so that they correspond to how we live. 3. Change our friends so that their ideals, values and goals are congruent with our own and with how we live. 4. Modify our self perceptions so that we will perceive ourselves as having lived in keeping with our ideals and values. 5. Associate with people who help us to perceive ourselves in the ways in which we want to perceive ourselves. 6. Deceive others so that they will perceive us as we want them to perceive us---and echo our desired self perceptions. 7. Coerce others so that they will affirm us as we want them to affirm us---and echo our desired self perceptions. 8. Participate with others in collusive games of mutual self deception---within which we all perceive ourselves and each other in keeping with the concealed rules of our dishonest games. 9. Shut down our perceptions so that we will not be troubled by disturbing situations. 10. Give up all ideals, values and goals. Each of the above ways of seeking equanimity bears its own kind of fruit---which we may or may not be willing to recognize, name, describe, and talk about. We may or may not learn from our experiences in seeking equanimity in each of the above kinds of ways---or from our experiences in watching other people seeking equanimity in each of the above kinds of ways.
