     It  is  one thing for a person to advance  their  own
advantage  through coherent pretense;  with a clear  goal,
purpose,  intent in mind.   Such behavior is dishonest and
not  worthy  or  full respect and honor;  even  if  it  is
"successful".

     It  is another thing for a person to be coerced  into
attempting  to  assume an identity which is not fitting to
them;   to  try to be other than they really  are.    Such
behavior is tragically disintegrative and futile.

     Personal  and communal integrity are not promoted  by
asking  a person to behave in ways which are  inconsistent
with their most basic identity, soul,  body and being---to
live a lie at all times,  to be a lie.   The imposition of
the requirement of such pretense by any person,  authority
or institution is alienative and not worthy of any respect
honor.   People may  freely  choose to  engage in pretense
under some circumstances to achieve a coherent purpose  of
their   own  choosing---and  succeed  in  ways  which  may
ultimately  contribute to personal and communal  integrity
by  exposing the violence which caused them to make  their
choice  of  pretense---but  that  is  different  than  the
imposition of the requirement to live a lie at all  times,
to  be  a lie.   While both may be tragic,  they  are  not
tragic  in  the same way.   The differences are  important
