In theory the adversarial systems of justice promote the discovery of the truth through competition and cross examination designed to get at the objective truth; because, in theory, under cross examination any deception will be revealed and lies will be uncovered. In the theory of adversarial justice, justice will be best served by the discovery of the objective truth about who did what to whom and with what consequences. The assumption is made that the truth which needs to be discovered and shared with the jury/judge is objective truth; rather than reflexive truth. The fatal flaw with adversarial systems of justice is that they fail to recognize, name, and talk about the roles which reflexive truths play in promoting true love, power and justice---which are the foundations of personal and communal integrity. The adversarial systems of justice all too often promote adversarial relationships both inside and outside of the court-room; rather than true conflict resolution through the exchange of true gifts of security known as the freedom to be safely vulnerable. Adversarial systems of justice encourage people to take positions, and so to take sides in dichotomous conflicts which are based upon assumptions of either/or logic and win/lose competitive games---with little emphasis upon the foundations of the healthy growth of: personal integrity, communal integrity, conflict resolution, true security, reconciliation, mutual understanding, dialogue, active listening, love, and forgiveness.
