Is it accurate and honest to suggest that the essence of the differences between heaven and hell are differences in the physical environments rather than the differences in the qualities of the reflexive relationships among those who are present? It seems there is a suggestion that in heaven all conceivable external fixes are readily available, while in hell none of the desired external fixes are available. Are the images of heaven and hell projections of the visions of addicts and their codependent supporters? What are the preoccupations of those who envision and try to describe the natures of heaven and hell? If God is Love and Truth and the Way of life, wouldn't it be reasonable to hear about the manifestations of Love, Truth, and the Way on the part of all of those present in heaven? Why is so little said about those who were our brothers and sisters on earth before being true to themselves and each other in heaven. Why is so little said about the reflexive natures of the guilt, shame, low self esteem, frustrations, anger, and unfulfilled desires of those in hell? Why is the focus upon physical suffering rather than upon reflexive alienation from others who are physically present, but not in dialogue? It may be useful to ask in what ways we can reasonably expect hell to be different from the experiences of people who are trapped in personal and systemic organizational collusive games of mutual self deception of addicts and their supportive codependents. It may also be useful to ask in what ways we can reasonably expect heaven to be different from the experiences of people who are liberated within communities of integrity with people of integrity who are free and feel free to be safely vulnerable in being true to themselves and to each other about their own personal experiences, desires, fears, hopes, aspirations, visions, fantasies, opinions, beliefs, convictions and doubts? Is there any reason to believe that "hell" and "heaven" are terms which point to realities which exist only in the future, but not in the eternal now of the present, or in past? Why do we play collusive games of mutual self deception about the natures of heaven and hell; and refuse to recognize how present they have been, are now, and may be. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
