Some people seek to convince others that spiritual/reflexive realities are real in terms of the paradigm of those people who are operating exclusively in terms of objective considerations. Such an effort is futile---because exclusive objectivity rules out of order any considerations which are reflexive; i.e., pointing back in any profoundly personal way to the people who are trapped in the exclusively objective paradigm. Exclusive objectivity is a collusive game of mutual self deception which cannot tolerate spiritual/reflexive realities; even on a hypothetical basis within a hypothesis to be tested experimentally within existential personal relationships. Exclusive objectivity does not seek open and honest descriptions of and dialogue regarding authentic personal experiences; it seeks exclusive confirmations of the ultimate worth and utility of the paradigm of those people who are compulsively objective depersonalizers. Often people who are oriented primarily to spiritual and reflexive realities are exclusive in ways which are mirror images of the ways of participants in objectivists' collusive games of mutual self deception. They fall into the same trap, and seek to validate their claims in terms of echoes of the validations of the objectivists' paradigm; as if spiritual/reflexive realities were in some sense "real" apart from the participants within them, transcending the participants. They are unwilling to acknowledge the essential role which the participants in spiritual/reflexive realities play in creating and enjoying spiritual/reflexive relationships. In what sense can such realities exist apart from their participants? What meaning and significance can such realities have apart from the participants? In what sense can we know about such spiritual/reflexive realities without being participants in them? Addictive people often seek to gain control over spiritual/reflexive realities as tools of manipulation; and they seek to reduce spiritual/reflexive realities to the level of objective realities which can be manipulated and be used to manipulate people. They are not interested in being involved in true spiritual/reflexive relationships of open and honest dialogue within secure contexts where true security is given and accepted as the freedom to be safely vulnerable in intimate relationships. They are interested in issues of control, conformity, acceptance, rejection, punishment and excommunication. Thus they seek to transform truly spiritual/reflexive relationships into objective relationships which can be manipulated and controlled. They seek to remove the law of love from the heart---and write it into legalistic books of law, judgment and excommunication as tools of control. They seek to replace the New Testament with the Old Testament in very selective efforts to use ancient fundamentals as tools of manipulation and control. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
