Objectivity has to do with emotionally disconnecting scientists from the objects which they dispassionately study. Disconnecting objects from the contexts within which they are understood is bound to lead to misunderstanding. The scientists who seek to understand objects are the parts of the context of understanding which are most central to the kind of understanding which evolves from the relationship between scientists and objects. For scientists to disconnect themselves from reflecting upon their emotional responses to the relationships between themselves and the objects of their study---is to ignore one of the most significant aspects of the relationship within which understanding evolves. The integrity of a pattern of understanding of a scientist depends greatly upon the integrity of the relationship between the scientist and that which the scientist understands. If there is nearly total dis- connection between the scientist and that which is understood, the level of understanding of the scientist is bound to lack integrity. The more the object of analysis and understanding is separated from the scientist and its context of meaningful relationships---the less meaningful will be the understanding of the scientist.
