The roots may be found with our most cherished paradigms, ideals, values, doctrines, scriptures and technologies. The roots may in fact be rooted in our respected worship of idols which do not merit our ultimate concern and adoration. Our most cherished paradigms, ideals, values, doctrines, scriptures and technologies may in fact be motivating and leading us into conflict, violence, evil relationships; and so into the disintegration of whatever personal and communal integrity we may have. Extreme fundamentalists who are selective in what fundamentals they fix upon as the grounds for their ostensible superiority relative to their enemies---often illustrate the point being made here. Extreme fundamentalists often promote misunderstanding, evil relationships, conflict and violence---as means to the demonstration of their claimed superiority over others whom they fear and treat as enemies. They are often driven by fear, rather than motivated and guided by love. Not all extreme fundamentalists are religious in nature. They may be active in political, scientific and technological organizations; as well as within religious organizations. Wherever they may be found they often are motivated and lead by unbalanced paradigms, ideals, values, doctrines, scriptures and technologies. They are usually lacking in respect for personal and communal integrity as realities of great importance, and so are not committed to promoting both personal and communal integrity.
