     Addictive  and other manipulative people have ways in
which  they  abuse,   confuse  and  otherwise   manipulate
doctrines,  truths,  relationships,  laws,   commandments,
insights,  scriptures, virtues, concepts,  words and ideas
to serve their own perverted purposes.  Thus we need to be
cautious  about responding in a positive way to any appeal
to what may be abused,  confused and otherwise manipulated
as   a  positive  reality.   Are  the  appeals   to   them
characterized by honesty,  openness, personal and communal
integrity;  or might  the appeals to them be perverted  in
some way? Do the appeals elicit from us positive feelings,
or  feelings of resentment,  suspicion,  defensiveness and
