     There are many different kinds of situations which we
encounter  in  the course of our lives.  For each kind  of
situation  there  are many possible patterns of  response;
but  we  may be UNAWARE of the many possible  patterns  of
integrative response, and be aware of only one response---
or  be aware of some few nearly identical responses  which
we think are the only possible proper responses to a given
situation.   We may be victims of exclusive conceptions of
what  might  be  appropriate  responses to  the situation,
thinking that only the  patterns of response which we  are
familiar with are appropriate in the situation.

     When we see a creative person respond to a  situation
in a manner different from the few responses which we have
come  to  regard  as  appropriate---we  may  regard  their
response  as inappropriate because of the exclusive  mind-
set  of  our  paradigm.   We  may  thus  be  blocked  from
appreciating  creative new ways of dealing with situations
which may be newer than we have recognized, and so calling
