It is not safe to always restrain passions; yet there are times when it is essential to plan carefully, develop systematic procedures, and proceed methodically. Wise people demonstrate the differences between the different kinds of times in a balanced way which is dominated by neither passions nor by systematics. Scientists do not know how to specify and plan for passionate expressions; nor how to systematically specify when passions must be held in check. Neither do religious leaders; for such "knowledge" is "known" only within the context of collusions by people who do not honestly know themselves or others. People who know themselves and others intimately and honestly are aware of the difference between times when it is wise to be passionate, and the times when it is wise to be disciplined. The difference cannot be specified by measurements, computations, equations, formula, prescriptions, specifications, requirements, rules, regulations, laws, moral codes or regulations.
