We cannot be concerned in detail about each and every other person we meet. We have limited time, energy and resources. We cannot fully take care of each other whom we meet. In some sense we must because of our limitations be indifferent to many people whom we meet. Yet, we need to take care that we do not pass rejective judgement upon others about whom we are indifferent. It is disintegrative to pass rejective judgement upon another person about whom one has chosen to be indifferent; even if the choice is reasonably due to our real limitations. Even if we take the time and energy to be personally concerned about another person, it is disintegrative to pass rejective judgement upon them. The more personally informed we are about a person's personal history and personal situation, the less likely we are to pass rejective judgement upon them. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
