First we must recognize, acknowledge and begin to deal honesty with the collusions, addictions and codependencies with which we and others victimize our selves. In the absence of such honesty we lose all else. Virtually no people are immune to the disintegrative processes of addictions, co-dependencies and collusions. To pretend that we are immune is a sign of self deception and so a sign of participation in the dishonesty. Even if we are not active participants, we are inevitably to some extent the victims of other people's participations. Honesty demands a recognition and acknowledgment of how we are victimized by other people's participation in addictions, codependencies and collusions through: 1. Deaths on the highway due to alcohol abuse. 2. Crimes committed to get money to get fixed. 3. Broken homes due to addiction/co-dependency. 4. Lost work-hours due to addictions and fixes. 5. Dysfunctional management due to addictions. 6. Dishonesty in price fixing of all kinds. 7. Misleading spiritual leadership by addicts. 8. Misleading teaching by addictive scholars. 9. Disintegration of sexual relationships. 10. Increased insurance costs due to all above. It is dishonest for anyone to pretend that they are unaffected by the above. People who pretend that they are immune are participants in the dishonesty of addictions, codependencies and collusions. More subtle are the costs to us in our not being free to be our true unique selves because of the addictions, codependencies and collusions which form the matrix of our lives. So long as we are embedded in dishonest coercive expectations, demands, anticipations and taboos, we cannot fulfill our responsibility to be our true unique selves; for we are too busy conforming in dishonest ways. When we are busy conforming ourselves in dishonest ways we lose touch with our true: selves, emotions, insights, desires, fears, visions, dreams, hopes, and aspirations. When we are so dishonestly out of touch, we cannot be well informed and cannot make wise decisions. We cannot learn from mistakes made because we do not allow our selves to recognize the consequences of the decisions and actions in which we participate. Our processes of conformation demand that our perceptions, seeing, hearing and understandings correspond to the coercive expectations, demands, anticipations and taboos which are beyond our control, because we all cooperate unconsciously in tacitly supporting them as colluders. We cannot fulfill our responsibility to be our true unique selves with personal and communal integrity so long as we are victims of unrecognized and unacknowledged collusions, addictions and codependencies. First we must recognize, acknowledge and begin to deal honestly with the collusions, addictions and codependencies; with which we and others victimize our selves. In the absence of such honesty we lose all else. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
