Such people have given witness to their personal experience, and thereby have offered the opportunity to others to be released from their respected exclusive prison through balanced responsiveness to both their personal and communal responsibilities. Such effective witness has not been an abstract process pointing to abstractions which have been separated from embarrassing personal experiences. Their effective witness has been related to their own embarrassing personal experiences and has demonstrated the power of letting go of the bars of exclusive prisons. We cannot leave our respected exclusive prisons while we clutch to the bars of the prison. Release from the prison involves letting go, letting go of the bars which imprison us. The bards of the prison admonish us not to let go of the bars of the prison, for the bards of the prison maintain the collusive games of mutual self deception which pervade in the prison environment. The bards of the prison maintain that we are alone in our responsibilities; responsible to ourselves alone and that we must fulfill our responsibilities by ourselves. The bards maintain that our fulfillment is to be found by us alone through exclusivity in our exclusive prisons, by who we keep out of our wonderful prisons. Yet in our wonderful prisons we are not free to wonder why we consider them to be so wonderful. Our collusive games of mutual self deception exclude the possibilities of wonder and questions which would release us from prison and enable us to let go in freedom. In prison we are up tight in holding on to our bars; we cannot relax, we must strain to maintain our exclusive collusions, to fulfill our communal responsibilities to our collusions. In our prisons we view the maintenance of our collusions as our communal responsibility. We are confused. We do not recognize the nature of integrative communal responsibilities, and we regard disintegrative maintenance of our collusions as our communal responsibility. When so imprisoned we dare not fail to maintain our collusions which we regard as our communal responsibility. We cannot accept release and cannot honor those who witness to their own release. We cannot accept those who preach the good news to the poor regarding the acceptable year of the Lord, and witness to the release of the captives from their disintegrative prisons; for we have been blind and have not seen clearly because we have oppressed each other through collusive games of mutual self deception. Those who would free us must be rejected and despised to protect our prison in which we are free to be exclusive and to excommunicate those who are not worthy of our acceptance. Glory be to our prison! (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
