                         %HUMILITY VERSUS ARROGANCE 880215

     The arrogant person is pretentious,  tends to pretend
to be other than he or she really is.  Pretentiousness has
to  do  with pretending;  not for fun or for  entertaining
dramatic   effect,   but  for  deceptive  reasons.     The
pretentious  person  is trying to get others to  go  along
with a pretense,  a  deception.   People who go along with
the  pretense may help to create a collusion,  a  game  of
mutual  self  deception.    When  power  is  given  to   a
pretentious  person  and the pretentious person shares the
power which has been  given to  him or her in appreciation
for  the  gift,   the actions empower a collusive game  of
mutual self deception.  Arrogance and pretentiousness have
to do with  games  of mutual self deception in which power
is used to violate truths about human limitations.   Power
is  used to mislead  people   and   create  an  artificial
dishonest  "world" maintained by collusive games of mutual
self deception.

     Humility has to do with being honest about one's  own
limitations.   Humility has to do with being honest  about
one's  self.    The  humble  person  is  not  pretentious,
arrogant,   misleading,  deceptive,  collusive or  violent
toward any truth.   The power of the humble person is  the
long-term power  of truth and integrity.   The power of an
arrogant  person  is  the  short-term  apparent  power  of
dishonesty   which   leads  to   personal   and   communal
