The original outcome of the "Masters-Murder-Case" seems to be the natural result of a common conception of what "officials" should do when there has been a "murder". According to such a common conception the following two tacit injunctions to the "officials" make sense: 1. Find who is "guilty" of killing the person whose dead body has been "found". 2. "Appropriately-Punish" the person who is "found" to be "guilty" of "murder". The word "murder" is problematic because there is a tacit suggestion in how the word is traditionally used --- that some killings are "justifiable" and other killings are not "justifiable". The word "guilty" is problematic because there is the tacit suggestion that in instances of dysfunctional reflexive relationships between humans --- it is helpful to identify who is to be "blamed" --- and to identify who was the victim of a "blame-worthy" action. The phrase "Appropriately-Punish" is problematic because there is the tacit suggestion that punishments are helpful responses to dysfunctional relationships of alienation. The word "found" is problematic because it can mean "discovered" or "decided" or something else. 1. Common conceptions of how to respond to occasions of "murder" are problematic because within many such Common- Conceptions the following are ABSENT from the conceptions: Commitments-to and Covenants-to Cooperate-in- Collaborations to Clarify-Affirm-And-Demonstrate the following within many Coherent-Clusters-of-Mutually- Complementary-Virtues: Honesty Personal-Integrity Communal-Integrity Coherence Hospitality Generosity Reconciliation Sympathy Empathy Humility Reverence Meekness Tolerance Creativity Patience Healing Friendship Intimacy Vulnerability Service Giving Sharing Dialogue Listening Building-Communities-and-Sanctuaries for ALL. 2. Common conceptions of how to respond to occasions of "murder" are problematic because within many such Common- Conceptions the following are PRESENT in the conceptions as Mutually-Supportive-Clusters-of-Vices: Efforts to be Dominant and/or Be-In-Control. Blaming, Shaming, Guilting, Punishing, Alienating. Banishing, Excommunicating, Isolating, Imprisoning. Concentrating Wealth-and-Powers in the hands of a few. Mounting walls-of-defense-and-isolation. Attempts to demonstrate superiority or perfection. Rank-ordering of people and/or their accomplishments. Justifications of the behaviors of the powerful-ones. Denigrations of the behaviors of the vulnerable-ones. Building up of the credibility of the powerful-ones. Destructions of the credibility of vulnerable-ones. The formation of Coalitions of the powerful-ones. The scattering of Coalitions of the vulnerable-ones. Be-Together in the Many-Gracious ways of Shalom. (c) 2007 by Paul A.
