We also need to ask the question: "Do disintegrative means call presumably good ends into question? If people are tempted to use (and/or DO use): dishonesty, deception, pretensions, arrogance, self- righteousness, coercion and/or violence --- in efforts to achieve a particular "end" or "goal" --- is it fair to suggest that such temptations and inclinations profoundly call into question the integrity of the particular "end" or "goal" of the people who use the questionable means? Are means which are inherently disintegrative --- ever justifiable in terms of how well they help to promote personal and communal: integrity, health, well-being, healing, reconciliation, cooperation, collaboration, mutuality, understanding, civility, hospitality and reverence? When we look "behind" the use/abuse of (and/or the temptation to use/abuse): dishonesty, deception, pretensions, arrogance, self-righteousness, coercion and/or violence --- how often do we find "ends" and "goals" which are all truly: integrative, civilized, charitable, honorable and worthy of unqualified respect and reverence? Might it be that honorable "ends" and "goals" elicit the use of only honorable means; and that honorable means elicit interest in only honorable "ends" and "goals"? Might it be that the goals which domineering people seek to achieve are inherently disintegrative and unworthy of respect --- even though the domineering people try to present them as being worthy of honor and respect? What are their real motivations and goals --- in comparison to what they say their motivations and goals are? If people are willing to use/abuse: dishonesty, deception, pretensions, arrogance, self-righteousness, coercion and/or violence --- to achieve their stated "good" goals --- might they be willing to do so to mis- represent their real motivations and goals? It is a possibility which is worthy of careful consideration! Might "goals", "ends", "means" and "technologies" be inherently inter-woven as regards their effects upon both personal and communal integrities? Can we with integrity separate them from each other --- when we are seeking to decide which of them merit: reverence, honor, respect and support? How can we with integrity separate them, if such separation is possible? Can domineering people who are in the service of "The Domination System" -- at the same time serve to facilitate and promote personal and communal integrity? If so, how can they do so by using the inherently disintegrative means and technologies --- which they are committed to use in order to be faithful to "The Domination System"? If they adopt the life style of lovers, they thereby betray "The Domination System". How can they do that? Why would they want to do that? (c) 2005 by Paul A.
