Much depends upon what comparisons are made and what are the standards in terms of which judgment are made in the light of the comparisons which are made. As regards which personal realities are compared --- the following are some possible personal realities which may be the FOCI of comparisons: 1. WHATEVER other people casually think is true; regardless of whether or not it is true, and regardless of how carefully other people sort out truth from their mere impressions. 2. WHATEVER other people casually feel-is- important; regardless of whether or not well-informed-and- thoughtful-people believe-with-conviction that it really is important. 3. WHATEVER commercial advertisers-say-is-important; even though the advertisers are driven by greed and are willing to serve greed in dishonest ways. 4. WHATEVER domineering people say must be respected and done --- without reverence toward vulnerable people who are working to promote honesty, personal integrity and communal integrity. 5. WHATEVER a dominate large group of people focus their attention upon --- even though their focus of attention leads to personal and communal disintegrations. 6. INCOHERENT sets of dominant religious: convictions, beliefs, boundaries, distinctions, stories and pretentious posturing --- while pretending that they are all coherent with each other. 8. INCOHERENT dominant paradigms relating to: scientific, religious, technological, business, and communal relationships --- while pretending that they are all coherent with each other.
