Such humans lack much which other humans take for granted --- and sometimes strike out as terrorists who do not know how to connect or cooperate in ways which are civil. Some creative/non-conformist humans are excluded from communities, or find it difficult to function well within the communities which they are aware of; even though they are physically present within various communities. They live within the physical territories of some communities, but are not of the communities in any meaningful ways. Some humans live so exclusively within their work- community that when they retire they are at a loss for how to connect in meaningful ways with any new community; even if they find isolated ways to keep themselves busy. Some humans become entrapped within exclusive religious communities and are in-terror-of being excommunicated/shunned by even their closest family members; so they live dishonest lives of alienation, wherein they cannot be true to themselves or to others. Even people who are apparently members of some meaningful communities, may not in truth be meaningfully in dialogue with any of the members of "their" own communities. They may have no sanctuary wherein they know security as the freedom to be safely vulnerable within an intimate relationship. Tragedies endure in such communities; even when there is no public notice of the tragedies. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
