It is difficult for us to do rightly and be in right relationships if we ARE CONFUSED and IGNORANT about what is right and what relationships are right --- because: a. It is difficult to navigate the troubled waters of life --- because we cannot see clearly the right way to go. We make mistakes. b. It is difficult to be with each other rightly because we confuse doing right --- with being in right relationships with each other through cooperative activities with "different" people. We trouble each other. 2. If we ARE NOT CONFUSED and ARE WELL INFORMED about what is right and how we and others should be in right relationships --- then: a. It is difficult for us to avoid self- commendations and self-condemnations --- because we can then see so clearly how well we are doing and being within our relationships. Pride and low self esteem plague us. b. It is difficult for us to avoid arrogance in judging, condemning others, and alienating ourselves from others --- because we then see so clearly how poorly they are doing and being in relationships with us. We suffer with each other within relationships which are dominated by legalisms, judgmentalism, condemnations, excommunications and mutually alienative patterns of attitudes, thoughts and behaviors. If we avoid the above traps, then it is hard to avoid being proud of our success in avoiding the above traps. It is not easy to be sophisticated and better than others --- without falling into sophisticated traps with our sophisticated friends who help us to be better than others are --- in their ignorance and confusion with us.
