Conflict resolutions often have to do with the development of new agreements and patterns of respect for boundaries --- which have recently changed, confused and/or violated. When boundaries are excessively: sharp, rigid, stiff, opaque, tough, impenetrable, arbitrary - - - communication can be inhibited and alienation and estrangement can dominate. Cooperation, creativity, health and integrity are difficult, if not impossible, under such circumstances. When boundaries are: ambiguous, confused, changing, violated, capricious, prejudicial, exclusive --- communication can be undermined for lack of grounds for: mutual understanding, trust, respect and common language. Privacy and health depends upon respecting properly and mutually defined boundaries. Healthy: communication, cooperation, trade, creativity, reproduction, growth, healing and evolution --- all depend upon transcending boundaries in mutually satisfying and meaningful ways. We ignore and violate boundaries at our peril. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
