Many commandments have do do with being "ritualistically clean" and "pure"; in a religious sense having to do with being "without blemish", "perfect". It is an "abomination" to violate provisions of the "purity code". People who commit abominations are to be killed, cut off from their people; just as one would wash pollutants down the drain. Those who are dirty are to be cast away, cast off, washed down the drain --- to recover purity, cleanliness, acceptability. They are disposable in the name of purity, cleanliness and acceptability. People who are preoccupied with the provisions of the purity code are often indifferent to alienation, disintegration, excommunication, pride, self- righteousness, arrogance, misunderstandings, etc. They worship the purity code as a god --- which is to be served without thought about, or consideration of, the costs of the sacrifices in human fragmentation and disintegration which is entailed in such worship. Their ultimate concern is their own purity in their own eyes --- at whatever cost it comes. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
