Our preoccupations with how properly we are different from fools and "evil people" --- are preoccupations which often turn us into fools who engender much alienation and violence. Often we are insecure and fear different people --- and try to be different in better ways than the ways in which they are "different". We choose what we choose to think are good ways of being different; thinking that others whom we fear have chosen "evil" ways of being different. We are proud of our ways of being different, and regard others' differences as signs of inferiority. On what grounds can we with integrity be arrogant about our superior ways of being different? Can we with integrity reject/exclude others who are different in ways which we fear --- due to our ignorance and prejudice? Can we with integrity be proud of how "good" we are---because of how we are different from others whom we do not know in any personally informed way? Can anybody with integrity reject others whom they do not know --- as inferior people? Can anybody with integrity engender alienation? Can "good" people ever have good grounds for regarding themselves as "better" than "evil" people? (c) 2005 by Paul A.
