    It  is  strange that self-righteousness  and arrogance       
are:                                                                                                                           
                                                                                                                               
     1.  So rarely criticized for the frequency with which                                                                     
they engender exclusivity,  alienation,  misunderstanding,                       
anger, rebellion, and violence ---  and for which they are           
not held responsible.                                  
                                                                                                                               
     2.  Associated  with  people who  show  little shame,                                               
guilt or regret.                                                                                                               
                                                                                                                               
     3.  Responsible  for  more  real  damage  than  other                                  
"sins"  which often engender gossip and scandals ---  that                                                                     
are out of  proportion to how much real damage they cause.                                               
                                                                                                                               
     We will do well and be well when we regain a sense of                                                                     
proportion about  the  diverse  kinds  of  "sins"  and how                                               
damaging they  are  to personal  and  communal  integrity,
