It is rare that attacks upon our personal and communal integrity by others undermine our personal and communal integrity---apart from how we chose to respond to those attacks. Usually it is how we chose to respond to such attacks which play a major role in our personal and communal integrity being undermined. To maintain our personal and communal integrity we need to recognize, name, describe and talk about our responsibility to respond to threats with integrity---in order to maintain our integrity. Our personal and communal integrity decay if: 1. We respond dishonestly to threats to our integrity. 2. We fail to respond to threats to our integrity. 3. We accept uncritically to statements made about us by people who are: violent, mean, manipulative, coercive, arrogant, abusive, dishonest and/or unfamiliar with true love. 4. We accept uncritically and try to answer on their own terms dichotomous questions which demand either/or responses---even though the questions are predicated upon false assumptions. 5. We accept the notion that in the cosmos there is at root an ultimate conflict between a good God and a Devil who is an ultimate power of Evil as an active force/spirit seeking to undermine our personal and communal integrity. 6. We respond to threats to our integrity in ways which are: misleading, dishonest, arrogant, exclusive, legalistic, judgmental, condemnatory and/or excommunicative. 7. We refuse to deal honestly with our human limits and limitations as we respond to threats to our integrity. 8. We refuse to acknowledge the role which we play in undermining our personal and communal integrity as we respond to external threats to our personal and communal integrity. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
