Believing that we have a responsibility, duty and/or right to initiate or engage in efforts to fix, finesse or conceal what we perceive to be imperfections. 2. Believing that we should not be at peace, serene or tranquil while there are others around us who are not. 3. Believing that if we were to behave properly we could be in control of situations which disturb us. 4. Believing that the sources of our distress, conflict and agitation usually lie outside of us---when in reality they often they lie in our own dishonest collusive games of mutual self deception. 5. Presuming to transcend our God-given limits and limitations. 6. Presuming to know with certainty what God has ordained to be beyond our reach in the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of the Difference between Good and Evil people. 7. Assuming that technological knowledge, understanding and fixes of great power and/or sophistication---are the effective means to peace, serenity and tranquility. 8. Refusing to honestly seek the mutually satisfactory resolution of conflicts among our ideas, ideals, values, family members, friends, associates, communities, nations, etc. 9. Being willing to sacrifice personal and communal honesty and integrity---as the price which must be paid to achieve or get some thing or advantage which we want or feel that we need or must have. 10. Priding ourselves on how respectably exclusive we are in regards to associating ourselves with unfamiliar and/or threatening ideas, ideals, values, associates, communities, nations, etc. The above play major roles in undermining our peace, serenity and tranquility. There are other considerations which may merit consideration in some situations. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
