We repeat mistakes over and over again. If we are participant-victims in collusive games of mutual self deception---in the manner of addicts and their codependent supporters---then we often require ourselves and each other not to become aware of the connections indicated above. To become aware of such connections is to threaten the appearance of integrity/coherence in our collusive games of mutual self deception. Dishonesty and disintegration are regarded as reasonable prices to pay to assure the concealment and continuation of the non-existent games of appearing to be worthy of respect. If we require ourselves to be unaware of the connections indicated above, and are successful in fulfilling our requirements, then we need not repress the awareness of connections---because the connections never reaches the level of conscious thought. There is a sense in which those insights, attitudes, emotions, perceptions and revelations which do not reach the level of conscious thought---are not repressed; they are suppressed to the point of not being real, realized. Then they cannot be repressed. If our collusions require of us that we not become aware of the consequences of our collusive games of mutual self deception, then we cannot be true to ourselves about what our own experiences, emotions and perceptions are--- we cannot be aware of them, name them, describe them or talk about them with anybody. We are the living dead persisting in hell, alienated from ourselves and each other---worshiping our collusive games of mutual self deception as dishonest isolators. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
