People who are generous and appreciative in giving and accepting the gift of true security are people who feel no need to over-simplify real life in efforts to achieve for themselves a false sense of security. Other people are often defensive in their false efforts to eliminate complexity, ambiguity, uncertainty and doubt. The manipulate ideals, values, questions, issues, beliefs and affirmations in efforts to get other people to join with them in playing their collusive games of mutual self deception---games designed to simplify life and facilitate the comforting sense of certainty which they desperately desire and think they need. When we encounter people who see things and people only in terms of black and white with narrow lines between acceptable and rejectable, good and evil, true and false, proper and improper, salvation and damnation, other other like sharp distinctions---then we need to look for diverse signs of systemic dishonesty and the manipulations of our ability to experience, perceive, describe and talk about our real life situations which involve complexity, ambiguity and uncertainty as central and natural features. If we do not do so, we are likely to join such collusive people in their addictive dependence upon false dichotomies, simplifications and convictions --- regarded as fixes for their tragic insecurity.
