The objective paradigm of scientists and technocrats does not provide an adequate foundation for wise health care, because the paradigm lends itself very readily to objective exclusivity which neither respects nor admires wise reflexive behavior. Wise health care cannot be centered around the objective services of a technical expert (a doctor or nurse) who is dedicated exclusively to the objective paradigm; because such services cannot wisely lead us to take good care of our own bodies, minds, spirits and souls. Because of the exclusivity of the objective paradigm and because of the collusive games of mutual self deception by which the paradigm protects its most fundamental assumptions, perceptions, and convictions--- the paradigm cannot wisely lead supporters of it in helping us engage in wise self-health-care; an essentially reflexive process. Wise health care includes wise attention to our personal sexuality and our sexual relationships; both of which are essentially reflexive in character. In the absence of wise health care we are bound to become trapped in addictive patterns of assumptions, attitudes, beliefs, convictions and manipulations; including manipulative efforts to control sexual awareness, perceptions, feelings, emotions, desires, expressions, and behaviors. Addictions of all forms interact reflexively with most facets of human sexuality and of human disease, sickness and the overall deterioration of personal and communal health. (See the book "Women, Sex and Addiction" by Kasal.) The neglect of these inter-relationships by most doctors is part of the pattern of the collusive games of mutual self deception which dominates "health services" which are guided by the objective scientific paradigm. The conflicts which exist between the provisions of the scientists' exclusive preoccupations with objectivity, and our needs for wise reflexive health care; cannot be resolved in keeping with the provisions of scientists' exclusive preoccupations. The conflicts must be resolved in keeping with ideals, values, and attitudes which transcend the exclusivity of any and all paradigms. No paradigm which excludes balanced consideration of both personal and communal integrity can serve as the paradigm in terms of which to engaged in wise health care. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
