     Some   people   value  simplicity;     others   value
complexity and sophistication.   Such people may not value
each other  as unique mortal creatures.

     People   who  value  simplicity  may  seek  to  avoid
complexity and sophistication; regarding them as not being
good.

     People  who value complexity and  sophistication  may
seek  to  avoid simplicity;  regarding simplicity  as  not
being good.

     People   who value simplicity are often  inclined  to
regard    others      who     value     complexity     and
sophistication   as dangerous technocrats.

     People   who value complexity and sophistication  are
often  inclined  to regard others who value simplicity  as
being simple-minded and incompetent.

     Some   people   regard  simplicity  as  the  key   to
salvation.  Others  value complexity and sophistication as
the  keys to salvation.    Such peoples often regard  each
other as being misguided,   misunderstand each other,  and
are   alienated  from  each other;  disinclined to  be  in
dialogue,  listening to and/or hearing each other.

     People  who regard simplicity as the key to salvation
may  find  it  difficult to  solve  complicated  technical
problems.     People    who    regard    complexity    and
sophistication   as  the keys  to salvation may be  unable
to  recognize  simple   ways to   resolve   key   dilemmas
which  are  not   complicated technical problems.

     We   need  to  recognize complexity  where  it  is  a
feature   or  aspect   of  situations which  confront  us;
and   to  value simple  ways  to resolve key  dilemmas  we
have in  deciding how to respond to such complexity.

     We   need  to recognize the importance of  simplicity
as   a  guide  in formulating coherent response  patterns;
and   to  value    sophistication   in    responding    to
genuinely  complicated technical problems  which  confront
us.

     We  need  to be open and honest about  the  important
ways     in   which    simplicity,      complexity     and
sophistication  play significant  roles  in healthy  lives
of  people  in   healthy communities;     and   to   avoid
confusion  about  values  and ideals which relate  to  how
best  to  regard  issues  having to  do  with  simplicity,
