Thus scientists have a difficult time dealing with reflexive situations, and prefer to avoid having to deal with reflexive situations. One way to avoid having to deal with reflexive situations is to avoid the presence of sexually attractive people; for all sexual attractions, desires, fantasies, visions, and behaviors are reflexive in character. For the male dominated scientific professions the best way to avoid the the most reflexive situations is to keep sexually attractive females out of professional scientific roles. This will make it unnecessary to deal with reflexive situations with other people who are committed to avoiding reflexive situations. The embarrassment of failing to be objective can thus be avoided. To avoid the appearance of sex discrimination, scientists can permit non-sexually attractive females to gain entry into professional scientific roles; for it is the sexually attractive females who are the greatest threat to objectivity. In dealing with the appearance of sex discrimination and with the absence of females in scientific professions, scientists have a difficult time. They cannot freely discuss the reflexive considerations which are central to the absence of sexually attractive females in their professions; for such discussions would violate the code of objective conduct, violate the unspeakable taboos. Scientists tend to see all situations which involve difficulties as problematic situations; i.e., as problems which can be analyzed and solved through technical procedures. Their dilemma with sexual discrimination is a dilemma which they see as a problematic situation, and they seek to create and carry out programs and procedures by which to attract females into their profession---yet being careful to avoid attracting sexually attractive females into their profession; doing so without talking about their unspeakable taboos about the professional dangers of reflexive relationships. The sexually discriminative scientists' dilemma is to find a way to deal with their reflexive dilemmas without being honestly reflective about the nature of their dilemma; i.e., by keeping to purely objective and technical manipulative procedures. It is difficult to attract females into a manipulative profession, by the use of technical manipulative procedures. The more perceptive, thoughtful and creative females will experience aversive reactions to the kinds of technical manipulative procedures which sexually discriminative scientists are likely to try to use. The technically manipulative procedures will not generate attractors to the profession which will work. Scientists need to become honest with themselves and others to transcend their addictions to objectivity, research and technocratic procedures. If they do not become honest with themselves and others and transcend their addictions they will continue to contribute in major ways to the disintegrative tendencies of our modern technocratic society with its addictions to military responses to global dilemmas.
