To what extent can a computer behave as a person does? Can computers replace people by being "better" than people In what situations? In personal relationships? In sexual relationships? Some people have come to have great respect for the powers and abilities of computers, and tend to feel that in time computers will be more competent than people. It is important, however to recognize that there are significant ways in which people are different from computers. People are reflexive in ways which computers are not reflexive. People are concerned about how to define themselves as being of significance. People care what other people think of them, and how other people relate to them. People can take care of themselves in novel situations. Computers can be like people only to the extent that people are like programmed automatons. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
