Paradigms do not survive by winning debate contests among adults who are servants of competing paradigms. Children and youth have an instinctive sense of how important personal and communal integrity are; and so an instinctive sense of how important honesty is. They are quick to detect the insecurity which is generated by misleading behavior, and by behavior which is anything less than a constant search for the truth. Children are by and large not impressed by pretentious claims of completeness made by collusive paradigms. As they grow in consciousness and maturity they come to see and avoid such pretentious claims by scientists who are not conscious of the full range of human experiences and relationships. As they reach the age of discretion they instinctively learn to avoid falling into the collusive traps of scientists who are excessively exclusive in their life styles. Females who are traditionally taught to be most concerned about personal relationships tend to avoid pretentious scientists more than do males who are traditionally taught to be dominant and in control in objective ways which lead to success which can be predicted, attained, and measured. Addicts and their supportive cast of codependents tend to behave in ways which lead from crisis to crisis; not out of crises. They have created crises in science education by their exclusive foci; and they seek to solve the crises in science education by additional concentration of attention and resources upon the same exclusive foci. Their collusive behavior is deadly in its tragic consequences. The way out of the crises will involve broad consideration of the truths pertaining to personal and communal integrity in relationships which transcend the scientists' paradigm. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
