Self-centered motivations will not lead the way to genuine communal realities. People seeking to achieve individualisticly defined self salvation will not achieve, nor will they enjoy communal integrity; they may fear such integrity even as they think they are working to achieve it for purposes of self salvation. It is impossible to achieve some things with an inappropriate motivation, even if the intention regarding the nature of the achievement is well defined. The person who wants to achieve superior humility to be better than other people in the humility department will not succeed in being humble. The individualists who want to form a community of individualists which is more coherent than a community of communally oriented people will not succeed in proving thereby that individualism is a better foundation for communal cooperation than is being communally oriented. People who seek to achieve righteousness via achieving self-righteousness will fail. Communal realities entail wholesome relationships among people as whole creatures of integrity. Any tendency towards partial relationships based upon parts of individuals tend to disintegrate the community. There are disintegrative risks in relating in an isolated way upon the basis of rationality, spirituality, sexuality, affection, economics, etc. Partial relationships tend to involve partiality and bias, they are not wholesome and so tend to threaten the integrity of the community. Selfishness leads to disintegration because self people do not seek to promote communal integrity nor the personal integrity of others; their relationships are partial, not wholesome. Wholesome people are attractive by virtue of their integrity. Seeking to take advantage of them is disintegrative and does violence to the possibilities of wholesome relationships with them. That which the heart seeks can not be gained by taking advantage of wholesome people, nor by trying to imitate their behavior without entering into wholesome relationships creating a wholesome community.
