Human relationships and cooperation are fundamentally reflexive considerations. Human relationships and cooperation are fundamentally reflexive in a very direct way. Such people find themselves the victims of taboos against openly-reflexive-behavior- without-apology. At another level such people find that they can not formulate and discuss principles and guidelines which might help people openly and with pride participate in reflexive behavior. Taboos do not permit them to discuss how to most wisely violate the taboos. Emotional maturity is inhibited by being compulsively committed to behaving in exclusively objective ways. Personal and communal integrity is not promoted by commitments to exclusive objectivity. Commitments are not objective acts. A commitment to exclusive objectivity is not an objective act; it is a logically contradictory action and behavior. Love provides the context for, and is the context for the development of both personal and communal integrity. In love there is the security with vulnerability which is essential to personal and communal integrity. In love, defensiveness and fear which occasions defensiveness, are unnatural, not normal, uncommon; rarely experienced. People who are constantly in fear and defensive, and not in Love, do not enjoy the context which Love provides for both personal and communal integrity. To be in Love is to enjoy the context which Love provides for integrity and integration. There is a bias inherent in being ignorant of the lives of people whom you would like to manipulate through scientific analysis and understanding. To be objective about people you must be ignorant of their personal lives, for to be informed about their personal lives is to be involved as a participant in their personal lives, in love's context. In love's context one can not be exclusively objective. To be exclusively objective one must withdraw from love's context and regard people exclusively objectively. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
