The insecure person tends to behave like a paranoid, suspecting that there are threats round-about. Such an insecure person will act defensively and breed echo- insecurity in potentially insecure persons round-about; and in turn receive echoes of insecurity from round-about. The energy of the potentially insecure people who are round-about may be channeled into the amplification of the echoes of insecurity---into a screeching of insecurity through mutual feed-back which confirms all the fears of all the insecure people who are round-about. Confirmations of insecurity come from friends and enemy alike. Friends join together confirming their fears of enemy. Enemies through defensive posturing confirm each other's worst fears of potential attack. To the insecure the defensive posturing round-about appears as preparations for attack. Thus insecurity breeds insecurity among friends and enemies alike. Defensive posturing does not moderate the feeling of insecurity. The insecure can not be content with their own confidence in their own convictions. The insecure must have their convictions confirmed by increasing numbers of converts to their faith. The insecure constantly need assurances of their righteousness in their conviction, and seek converts. The insecure new converts need confirmations of the righteousness of their conversion, and in turn seek converts to the collusive faith in which they can not be secure. Participants in collusions can never be secure in their games of mutual self deception and so seek converts to their game to give themselves a sense of security. They perceive threats round-about and echo each other's perceptions of each other's defensiveness as threats of attack. Their collusive games of mutual self deception prevent them from being open and honest with each other and with their perceived enemies. The insecure can not cope effectively with real situations which trigger feelings of insecurity---because of the din of the echoes of their feelings of insecurity. True security is not an objective reality, and can not be achieved by any objective means. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
